Plan Your Linton Falls Waterfall Walk near Grassington, North Yorkshire
The Linton Falls waterfall walk makes a fantastic year-round walking destination for families. Post by Samantha Brown of The Reluctant Explorers.
Ever heard of the phrase….. A waterfall’s for life not just for Summer?!
No?! Obviously just us then…..

The Linton Falls waterfall walk is a brilliant one all year round. In the summer, you’ll be met with cascading water and crystal clear pools and there is also a chance to get down to the edge of the water to do some paddling a bit further downstream.

In the winter, the falls can transform entirely into an impressive raging torrent! But not only does this walk take in the famous Linton Falls, but it also has stepping stones, an epic stone-throwing beach, and a bridge. I mean, who doesn’t love trip trapping over bridges right?!

It can either start and end in Linton, or in Grassington, which is a picturesque market town packed full of cute cafes, places to eat and boutique shops. Parking on both counts is pay and display. There is a decent sized car park next to the bridge in the village of Linton, although that one can get busy at peak times. If you can’t get in there, head over to Grassington, where the large car park is a 5-10 minute walk from the falls.

Oh, and did I mention that Grassington also has a park, right next to the car park?! Perfectly placed for a little bit of park bribery!
Tempted? Of course you are!

At only 2.5km, this circular walk is super short and perfect for little legs! You can find the full route description and all of the important bits (like whether you need to pack your duck food!) at The Reluctant Explorers: Yorkshire Walking With Kids — Linton Falls and Stepping Stones. Toilets are located at the Yorkshire Dales Pay and Display Car Park.
Just a little final word! Remember that stepping stones can become submerged after long periods of heavy rain, so if in doubt, we recommend doing a there and back again from Linton Falls.
Have fun!
