If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve as a family, whatever your style, from dressy party to festive outdoor walk, there’s plenty of places to end 2017 with a bang!
1. New Year’s Eve Family Rave with BOOMCHIKKABOOM
Where: New Craven Hall, Leeds
When: 10:30am and 1:00pm

NYE plans just got exciting! The New Year’s Eve Family Rave with BOOMCHIKKABOOM will feature dance battles, face painting, confetti cannons, inflatable rave cube, bubbles & a snow machine!
The event is aimed at 0-11 years with all ages always welcome.
New Craven Hall has FREE on street parking and space available to park pushchairs if needed.
2. Magical Lantern Festival
Where: Roundhay Park, Leeds
When: 5pm – 10pm (last entry at 9pm)
Cost: £42 for a family of four (plus booking fee), children under 3 free
The Magical Lantern Festival is in its second year in Yorkshire at Roundhay Park in Leeds. It has gotten mixed reviews from the Yorkshire Tots to Teens readers this year, but we really enjoyed our visit last year. New Year’s Eve would be a great time to explore life-sized and large-than-life lanterns in all shapes and forms, from ‘Polar Bears on Ice’ to a magnificent giant ‘Chinese Temple of Heaven’ lantern recreation. The festival is open from 5pm to 10pm with last entry at 9pm.
3. Rainbow Factory Disney NYE Party
Where: Rainbow Factory, Pudsey
When: Doors open: 10am, Activities: 10:30am – 12:30pm, Mini Disco: 12:15pm, Lunch with your fave characters: 12:30pm, Doors close: 1pm
Cost: Child aged 2+: £10 (Adult ticket included. One adult free per paying child), Children under 2: £4 (Adult ticket not included), Additional adult: £6 (Required if accompanying a child under 2, or for a second adult attending with one child)
Kids love celebrating New Year’s Eve too but bedtimes often mean they miss out on the fun. So what better way to celebrate as a family, than by joining some of the best-loved characters from Disney classics, for a sparkling event, sprinkled with pixie dust?! 4. New Year’s Eve Family Celebration at Cedar Court Hotel
Where: Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield
When: Arrival from 7pm, with carvery served at 7.30pm. Bar to close at 1.30am and function to finish at 2am.
Cost: £54.95 per adult, £22.95 per child (under 1’s) and under 2’s free.
Make the most of New Year’s Eve with the family by enjoying a fabulous 3 course carvery with DJ entertainment.
5. Festive Show: Night Lights at Eureka!
Where: Eurkea! Halifax
When: 10 am – 5 pm
Cost: Entry includes a year’s annual pass – Adults & children 3-15 years £12.95, Child 1-2 years £5.25, Under 1 year Free
Explore Eureka! Children’s Museum and enjoy their original festive show, which last around 30 minutes and takes children on a sensory journey – perfect for snuggly, winter days!
6. Mince Pie Specials at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway
Where: Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Keighley & Haworth
When: 10 am – 3:15 pm, see schedule here
Cost: One adult & one child: £20, Adults: £16, Children 5 to 15: £8
Travel in lovely Yuletide carriages and take a festive journey into the New Year. The stations transformed with Christmas displays, real coal fires and gas lights, creating a magical glow as your train rolls in. Mince Pie Specials include free mince pies and an on-train real ale bar serving, not just real ale, but wines, spirits and hot cups of tea and coffee.
7. Outlaws NYE 2017
Where: Outlaws Yacht Club, Leeds
When: From 3pm
Celebrate the NYE in traditional relaxed Outlaws style with friends and family and resident DJs providing the tunes. The party starts from 3pm with Balearic Social hosting the afternoon session and will be carrying on throughout the night.
8. Bright Light Sculptures at The Hepworth
Where: The Hepworth, Wakefield
When: 11am – 2pm
In the Learning Studios, play with materials on light boxes, contribute to a large scale drawing with huge stencils and look through the shape windows to re-imagine the world outside. Make your own Hepworth-inspired light catcher to take home.
You can also pay a visit to the onsite cafe, The Hepworth Cafe, where Sophie Mei Lan Hale says, “We have bento boxes for kids and a special kids menu as well as toys to play with from the gallery shop and plenty to colour in.”
9. Winter Woodland Wander at Bolton Abbey
Where: Bolton Abbey Estate, North Yorkshire
When: 9am to 4pm
Cost: Free but £10 parking fee applies
Walk off those Christmas treats with a walk into Strid Wood for our festive family quiz.
Hiding behind wooden Christmas tree doors there will be quiz questions to suit both Grandparents and Grandchildren alike. Wind your way along the green trail from the Cavendish Shop and see how many questions you can answer.
Trail sheets will be available at the kiosks on arrival.
10. Family New Year’s Eve ‘Masquerade Ball’
Where: Mrs. Smith’s Cafe, Harrogate
Cost: 3 courses £35 per adult (including a glass of fizz on arrival) £10 per child.

Enjoy a delicious dinner and table games with a countdown to ‘kid’night at 8pm. This year the kids don’t have to miss out on the New Year fun and you can still have them tucked up in bed in time for the real Big Ben bongs! Throw on your party clothes and kick off the night by decorating your own masquerade ball masks, we’ve got feathers and sequins galore! Family games to play at your table, party tunes and an alcohol licence for the evening will ensure everyone has a fun and relaxing new year!
