Amazing! children’s magazine review & year subscription giveaway

We had our first ‘big kid’ magazine Amazing! delivered last week and it’s been a hands down hit.  Lily is already looking forward to next month’s issue (remember how exciting mail was as a kid?).  We are also giving our readers a chance to win a year’s magazine subscription for themselves.  Just enter at the end of the post.

Our first issue of the Amazing! children’s magazine focused on the theme of Awesome Oceans. It was full of activities about sea life, pirates, sharks and stories.  There were plenty of puzzles, bite sized facts, and games to make learning fun for children aged 6-12. Each moth has a different topics.

Amazing! covers Key Stage 1 & 2 curriculum subjects, including maths, English, history and geography.  Lily happens to be learning about pirates at school so it fit right in.  This issue had historical facts, poetry, science bits, maths and even a comic version of Moby Dick.

At six Lily is on the younger end of the suggested age for Amazing!, but she was able to read a fair bit of it herself. There were things that were too difficult for her including math’s problems and a crossword puzzle, but she did her first ever decoding puzzle and was more than a  little bit proud of herself.

Amazing! children’s magazine is printed on thick paper and is very bright and appealing.  I love that it is very gender neutral.  Lily’s four year old brother liked a look through just for the exciting photos.

Amazing! children’s magazine doesn’t come with toys (who needs more plastic toys around the house) but it does have a pull out poster and the chance to win LEGO by completing a puzzle and emailing the answers in.

Lily has been dipping in and out of Amazing! for the past week, reporting facts back to me, trying new activities, and now has a shark poster proudly on display in her room.

A  year’s subscription to Amazing! Magazine is  £49 for twelve issues.  For more information and previews of recent issues visit www.amazing.org.uk
